Causes of Vagina Dryness
Vaginal dryness is seen in women mostly during their menopause and post – menopause phase. It is however experienced by women of all ages due to various reasons like hormonal imbalance, high stress levels, depressed state of mind and strained relationships with their partners. The lessening of mucous in the vaginal walls causes dryness, making way for irritation, low sex drive. Ayurveda and curative yoga can control this condition to an extent.
- Lack of oestrogen or reduce in the production of this hormone is one of the main causes of vaginal dryness and the wall gets thinner. More time taken for getting turned on sexually is another reason for this condition.
- Stress and anxiety also affect vaginal lubrication. Strained relationship with the partner or depressed state of mind usually results in vaginal dryness.
- Other health conditions need to be checked if vaginal dryness is noticed, use of medication to treat some ailments could be another reason.
- Oestrogen levels are less during menopause, a natural condition seen in most women. There is little moisture and lubrication with the vaginal walls losing their elasticity.
Ayurvedic Remedies for Vaginal Dryness
- Aloe Vera gel, saffron, Aswagandha when taken with milk in the right proportions helps in the lubrication of the vagina. Aloe keeps the female reproductive organs hydrated and youthful because of its valuable moisturizing properties.
- Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water per day fights vaginal dryness.
- Oat Straw helps maintain blood sugar levels, checks anxiety and stress which are major emotional causes for vaginal dryness. A cup of oat straw taken everyday is recommended, it nurtures the female reproductive system also keeps the skin glowing.
- Boil a glass of water and add a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds and boil for 10 to 15 minutes. This helps increase sexual desire, also maintains blood sugar, and keeps the system healthy. Fenugreek seeds taken in this form during menopause gets desired results.
- Ginkgo Biloba, mainly used for treating depression, can be used to treat vaginal dryness that results from anxiety and stress.
- Lubricating the vagina with herbal oils is another way to treat dryness.
- Soak a cotton pad with sesame oil, massaging the vaginal walls or placing it in the vagina overnight for a week provides the required lubrication, acts as a natural lubricant.
- Marigold based creams can be used.
- Include yoghurt in every day diet, having flax seeds in cereal, lunch and dinner helps lessen vaginal dryness.
- Include rice, barley, wheat, corn in lunch and dinner.
