Home remedies for Eye Care
Beautiful and sparkling eyes reflect youth and beauty .But due to fast paced lives, pollution, stress, lack of proper rest and sleep, dark circles, puffy, life less dull eyes, poor eye sight crop up. Following few careful home and natural remedies regularly, help overcome these eye problems, resulting in radiant healthy eyes.
Home & Ayurvedic Tips
- Splash cold water over tired eyes for a relaxed soothing feel.
- Dab cotton pads in cool cucumber juice or rose water and place them over eyes for about 15 to 20 minutes, this lessens dark circles and also gives great relief. Tea decoction also works against dark circles.
- After every half an hour before a computer, close eyes for 20 to 30 seconds, do not continuously stare at the screen, and blink often.
- Roll eyes from the left corner to the right corner, highly recommended in yoga for exercising the eye muscles.
- For puffy eyes, apply raw potato paste or slices for 15 to 20 minutes. Have a good 7 to 8 hours of sleep to avoid puffy eyes.
- Apply cream around eyes in circular motions with finger tips gently.
- Go for regular eye check-ups. Consult your doctors incase of repeated headaches.
- Do not wear lenses for longer periods and over night, this does not allow enough oxygen to the blood vessels of the eyes causing damage.
- Change the lens lotion day after day, do not store lenses in stale lens lotion.
- Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day and take foods rich in vitamin A (papaya , eggs, fish milk) , iron and protein. Include leafy vegetables like spinach and carotene laden veggies like carrots for better eyesight and healthy eyes.
- Massaging saffron or almond oil around eyes lessens dark circles.
- Soak lukewarm milk in cotton pads and put over eyes for 15 minutes.
- For burning and reddish eyes, massage the scalp with yoghurt.
- For healthy long lashes, make sure you remove and clean mascara before going to bed. All eye make up needs to be removed for maintaining eye lashes.
- Avoid putting on mascara while driving and in moving vehicles, this might otherwise cause damage to the eye.
- For puffy eyes, place cooled herbal tea bags over eyes for 15 to 20 minutes. Herbal tea contains natural properties that work against puffiness.
- Applying vitamin E oil around the eyes or castor oil over eyelids is a good remedy for puffed eyes.
- Chill four teaspoons in the refrigerator, place them until they get warm over the eyes, this is an excellent and most inexpensive relaxing and soothing eye treatment.
- Include foods rich in fiber and low in saturated fats, this helps digestion, fights constipation removing unwanted toxins from the body. This results in sparkling healthy eyes, control puffiness.
- Avoid darker shades of eye liners and other means of loud eye make up that emphasize the eye, in the process drawing attention to tired eyes.
- Go for lighter shades like whites, beiges and pale pinks for eye make up.
- Keep a 10 to 15 feet distance from the television and a book 2 feet away from the eyes while reading.
- Do not rub eyes too often, in stead splash cold water over the eyes and relax.
