Impotence Treatment
Erectile dysfunction is a condition when a man is unable to have sex or is unable to keep an erection long enough to finish having sex. This condition is called erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is also called impotence. Erectile dysfunction can occur at any age, but it is more common in men older than 65.
Over 152 million men around the world are experiencing the same symptoms-and the same emotions-that you and your partner may experience as a result of ED.Causes of Impotence
Impotence or Erectile dysfunction is usually caused by other health conditions, medicines, or habits that interfere with blood flow. Some of these health conditions occur more commonly as men age - but age itself does not cause erectile dysfunction.
Apart from the above, there could be some other reasons which could lead to impotence such as:
- Sometimes your hormones could get out of balance. This also causes erectile dysfunction. Your doctor will decide if you need blood tests to check your hormones.
- Some medicines can cause erectile dysfunction. If this is true for you, your doctor may take you off that medicine or give you a different one.
- Drinking too much alcohol, smoking too much and abusing drugs can also cause erectile dysfunction.
- Psychological reasons could also attribute to erectile dysfunction, such as problems in your relationship with your sexual partner
Impotence Diagnosis
A physician’s diagnosis could be the formal way of approaching this problem. The first step in the medical management of erectile dysfunction is taking a thorough sexual, medical, and psychosocial history. The following could be some of the means by which impotence could be diagnosed:
Your doctor asking you if you have difficulty obtaining an erection, if the erection is suitable for penetration, if the erection can be maintained until the partner has achieved orgasm, if ejaculation occurs, and if both partners have satisfaction
You could be asked about current medications you are taking, about any surgery you may have had, and about other disorders (history of trauma, prior prostate surgery, or radiation therapy, for example)
The doctor would want to know all medications you have taken during the past year, including all vitamins and other dietary supplements It is always advisable that you tell the doctor about your tobacco use, alcohol intake, and caffeine intake, as well as any illicit drug useSome other methods could also include:
